Stylist and creative director Sarah Slutsky left chilly NYC behind for the lush beaches of Tulum — and took Merlette with her. We asked her to share her packing tips, how she styled her Merlette pieces and to share a few of her must-visit spots. Read on for our full interview.

Q: How did you pick which Merlette pieces to pack on your trip?
A: For my trip I selected pieces that felt effortless and romantic. It was also important that I could wear my pieces loads of different ways and that they would be interchangeable with the rest of my wardrobe.

Q: How would you describe your vacation style?
A: For me, vacation is a time that I actually get to play with my style. Oftentimes, during the work week, I am so on the go that I turn to a uniform, easy dressing and things I can really move and do my job in. On vacation, I like to suit all my whims! I like to dress the part for the place, in Tulum I really wanted to feel feminine and free to wear dresses that boosted my mood that made me feel romantic and like I could play.

Q: What were some highlights from Tulum?
A: Tulum was the exact escape we needed- some sun, rolling waves of a beach and delicious food. We were able to be super chill while also taking in culture and having a few adventures— snorkeling, visiting the Cenotes (sinkholes) and the Mayan Ruins were some highlights. Two amazing and very special dining experiences were at Hartwood and Mestixa, but we also LOVED the tacos at Taqueria Honorio. We divided our time between 2 hotels; the first on the beach at La Valise Tulum and the second downtown at Bardo Tulum. I think that was the best way to experience two very different sides of the city.
Q: How does Merlette make getting dressed easier on vacation?
A: Merlette’s pieces are just effortless, breezy and feel amazing on the body. They transition from day to night well with the swap of a shoe, they are also super lightweight and amazing for packing!

Q: What was your favorite Merlette look? How did you style it, and where did you go?
A: I loved wearing all the pieces, the romantic EEMNES dress— I paired it with a funky lime green pair of Alexandre Vaultier heels and a vintage Lucia Zolea glass fruit necklace to dinner at Mistixa, but surprisingly my star of the trip were the ALBAN knit leggings, but I wore them nearly every day when the morning was chilly down to breakfast and the beach with my suit and a light knit cardigan or denim shirt and for my 2 travel days to the airport. I was comfy, warm and still felt cute in Merlette’s version of a legging!
