In Tribeca: A Japanese Matcha Ceremony

Last week, friends of the brand, valued customers, and longtime supporters of Merlette gathered with our founder, Marina, and Matcha Master Yoshitsugu Nagano for an intimate traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Merlette has always been guided by an appreciation for handmade tradition and thoughtful craftsmanship. From our hand-finished embroideries and smocking to the artisanal techniques woven throughout each collection, these values are at the heart of what we create. They are also beautifully reflected in the practice of the Japanese tea ceremony, where care, intention, and artistry come together in every detail.

As we celebrate Merlette’s 10th anniversary, we wanted to honor this tradition and the enduring connection we share with Japan. Over the years, our collections have resonated deeply with Japanese customers, whose appreciation for craftsmanship, quality, and artistry has been an important part of our journey.

The gathering offered a rare opportunity to step away from the pace of the city and enter a more meditative space. It was a moment to slow down, connect with one another, and share in a tradition centered on presence, beauty, and community.

Guests also had the opportunity to explore our Spring/Summer collection alongside a curated selection of beauty and jewelry from brands including Talkative, Japanese fine jewelry, Dinosaur Designs, and Monastery.
